03/07/2010 - Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Miami Heat announced they have suspended guard Rafer Alston indefinitely.

The team's statement said Alston, who made contact with the Heat via text message, has "made himself otherwise unavailable to the team."

Since signing with Miami as a free agent on January 7, Alston has played in 25 games -- all starts -- and posted averages of 6.6 points and 2.9 assists.

However, he played for just under seven minutes in Miami's win over Golden State on Tuesday, and has not appeared in the Heat's two games since then.

In 52 games overall with the Nets and Heat this season, his 11th in the league, the former playground star has averaged 8.2 points and 3.4 assists.
